According to a new report from TIME Magazine, visits to porn sites are quickly declining while social networking sites like Facebook are on the rise. Among users over 25, porn sites come in at #2 behind search engines. However, when you look at users age 18-24, visits to pornographic websites fall all the way to #4 behind social networking sites, search engines, and web-based email sites.
Apparently, Generation Y is “too busy chatting with friends to look at online skin” (to quote the TIME article). If that’s the case then I think it’s great. Maybe my generation is “turning the corner” on this issue. Maybe we have realized some of the emptiness of pornography.
However, I also know that there is just as much skin in the online networking sites (especially MySpace). You can still see more than enough by hitting up some of these profiles. Plus, much of your peeping can be brushed off by claiming that you were “just browsing.”
So… what do you think? Why the fall in visits to pornographic websites among younger users? Is there a real shift happening here or will the trend reverse itself soon?
Let’s here it.

I just think were getting our ‘fill’ others ways these days. No longer do I have to go to playboy.com. Now I can click the unnamed chick who wants to be my “friend” and see all I want to.
I can get a quick tease from youtube, myspace, and countless other streaming video sites and just blame it on the fact that I accidentally clicked on the “Busty Babes” button.
Busty Babes? I really don’t know where that came from. It sounds so 70s doesn’t it?

Oh yeah, it sounds like 70s name but still it still seems to be most used keyword for porn-e-marketing.
The website you-porn no longer publishes natural videos like the ones shoot by a couple at home or by a lesbian. After youtube bought you-porn a couple of months ago(1.5b i think), they have stopped streaming these videos and started to make money out of this website by publishing small video clips of online paid websites. This is a major turn-off for all the natural porn lovers and they no longer surf youporn now. Counting the fact that youporn was the #1 porn website surfed on the entire www, i think this is the reason for decline in use of youporn.
On the other hand facebook is gaining pace and guys/girls can get in touch and the virtual world can turn into a real one when they stay in same city. They can meet, handout, its almost a virtual dating website. I also think this is the reason for the popularity of facebook/myspace/orkut (social n/w websites).
What do you say about it?
