As I was washing my face tonight before bed, something occurred to me that I think I have thought before but never put into words. So, here it goes.

When I wash my face, it never looks like the people on TV when they do it. The soap always makes perfect circles around their eyes and mouth, the water all stays neatly in the sink, and they never get face wash in their eyes. Plus, they always leave with a huge smile on their face after patting their face dry on a warm towel. It really is a thing of orchestrated beauty.

This is never a reality for me. I always have the water too hot or too cold. The soap ends up in the corner of my eyes, in my ears, and sometimes in my hair. To top it all off, it never fails that I make a big mess splashing water all over the place that has got to be cleaned up. The farthest thing from my mind when I’m finished is a smile.

I think that in general I am a fairly clean person who does most things in the normal human way. So…either the television is lying to me or I need to really practice my face-washing skills. I hope that the TV is just lying about this laborious task.

Who’s with me?
